Using Methadone Safely

Methadone is a very powerful opioid medication, so it can be hazardous when combined with  drugs such as alcohol, sedatives, heroin and other drugs.

Other drugs like "speed" and  cocaine can interact with the metabolism of methadone in unpredictable ways.

Some substance such as marijuana and club drugs like ecstasy are viewed as less harmful, but the use of these drugs can alter mental functioning. Furthermore, using these drugs are illegal and can have potential harmful effects in combination with methadone.
